CAN YOU HELP ME IF I HAVE RECEIVED PUBLIC ASSISTANCE?

Maybe, maybe not. Whether you can pursue child support collection in this case will depend on how much you received, for how long and what it was for. Generally, when you apply for aid, you assign your right to collect the money to the state of Georgia and you no longer have that right to the extent of anything they have paid to you. You may still seek modification, though, and your attorney needs to know the facts of your assistance to determine whether that will be a factor.
